A brief history of the Bodrum Castle

The Bodrum Castle is a historical landmark that was the site of many different battles and housed various historical figures. The full name of the castle, which is regarded as one of Bodrum’s most notable landmarks, is the Castle of St. Peter the Liberator of the Order of the Knights of the Hospital of St. John of Rhodes. This castle stood as a stronghold for over six centuries and was one of the most eminent military garrisons. The entire compound was built around a small village and today, it has been converted into a historical museum.

Theatre at Halicarnassus

The construction of the Theatre at Halicarnassus is attributed to the reign of the Carian Satrap Mausolos, who ruled during the 4th century BC. Ancient theatre was expanded and reached its current form around the 2nd century AD, during the Roman era. With a caveat width of 86 meters and an 18 meters orchestra diameter, the theatre originally had a seating capacity of 10,000 to 13,000 people. Currently, the Antique Theatre is used to host cultural events, such as the Bodrum International Ballet Festival or concerts from various Turkish and international artists
